Long ago in Ancient Rome
Claudius sat upon the throne
He wanted men to come and fight
But many didn't think it right
 
2     
The men liked being close to home
More than going to fight for Rome
They loved their wives and children more
And Claudius' request they did ignore
 
3     
So Claudius sat awhile in thought
Until a great idea he got
He would not let the men be married
Off to fight they could be carried
