3.   Alexander was making a birdhouse for the apple tree in his yard. He had a piece of wood he wanted to divide into eight equal sections to make the birdhouse. If the piece of wood is 56 inches long and 48 inches wide, how wide should each separate piece be?

4.   Connor is helping his father put 1 foot by 1 foot squares of sod on their lawn. If the area they are covering with sod measures fifty-two feet by thirty-three feet, how many squares of sod will they need?

5.   High on a hill above the little town lived a wee little man. He had a farm with wee little cows, wee little sheep, and wee little ducks. He had forty-seven wee little animals in all. He lived in a wee little house with his wee little wife. One day he decided to sell some of his wee little animals. If he sold six wee little cows, four wee little sheep, and nineteen wee little ducks, how many wee little animals did he have left?

6.   Julia went to the store to buy new ribbons for her hair. It was spring and she wanted pretty pastel ribbons for her hair. The ribbons cost $1.06 each. She bought three pink ones, four blue ones, three white ones, four purple ones, and three yellow ones. She gave the clerk a $20.00 bill. How much change did she get?
