Remoras

1     Suppose you are a fish who likes to travel. What mode of transportation would you prefer? Swimming on your own is one option, as long as you have the strength and stamina needed. Or, you could choose to drift along with ocean currents without the slightest clue where you could end up.

2     Either way, you risk being attacked by hungry predators like sharks.

3     While you puzzle over your choices, remoras have another solution. Their solution lets them explore the underwater world, and it also shields them from danger. That solution is to hitchhike with large marine animals or, in some cases, with ships.
