Los cheroquis

1     Los cheroquis vivían en las montañas de Carolina del Norte, Carolina del Sur, Georgia y Tennessee. Eran lo que llamamos indios de los bosques.
 
2     Hay quienes creen que los cheroquis hicieron las primeras vasijas de arcilla. Primero cavaban y extraían la arcilla. Después le daban forma. Cuando se secaba, la cocinaban al fuego.
 
3     Los pueblos que no se trasladaban mucho usaban vasijas de arcilla. Ellos vivían principalmente en un lugar. Cocinaban o guardaban el maíz en las vasijas.
 
4     Los cheroquis construían aldeas para vivir. Cada una tenía entre 30 y 60 casas. Se podía tardar todo un día en caminar hasta la aldea siguiente.
 
5     En medio de cada aldea había una casa grande. Era el edificio del consejo. Allí era donde el pueblo hacía reuniones.
