Sassy sat on a stump. She looked up. She looked down. She moved her tail up and down. Sassy was a black squirrel.
It was fall. It was a time to gather food. Sassy was going to get acorns. She knew just the place.
Sassy jumped off the stump. She went to a tree. She could run along its branches. They were like a squirrel road.
She jumped and ran and jumped again. This was as close as she could get.
Sassy climbed down the tree. She hopped onto a fence.
She sniffed the air. A dog lived in this yard. He did not like squirrels. He would try to catch them. Sassy did not want him to catch her.
She could not see the dog. She could not smell the dog. She knew the dog was still living there. Perhaps it was in the house.
Sassy ran along the fence. She looked at the yard. She looked at the tall oak three there. There were acorns under the tree. There were many acorns there.
Sassy wanted the acorns. Dog or no dog, she would try. She slowly climbed down the fence. She took a few steps. Nothing happened. She took a few more. Still nothing.
