Aaron's Ears

Mai was in fourth grade. She loved music. She liked to listen to it. Someday she wanted to make some music herself.

"Mama, may I learn to play the drums?" Mai asked her mother.

"Of course," her mother said.

So Mai took drum lessons. She worked very hard. She listened to her teacher. She tried to make the same sounds her teacher did.

"Mai, I can tell that you are really trying," her mother said.

"Mai, you have worked hard," her father said.

"Ouch! Mai, you make my ears hurt," her big brother Aaron said. Aaron was in high school.

"Maybe you should learn to play a guitar," her teacher said.

So Mai took guitar lessons. She worked very hard. She listened to her teacher. She tried to make the same sounds her teacher did.

"Mai, do your fingers reach around the guitar neck?" her mother asked.

"Mai, you just keep working on it," her father said.

"Maybe you should learn to play a trumpet," her teacher said.
