Floral Design Day

Reading Comprehension for February 28

"Jesse, you must be proud of your father. Firemen do important work," Miss Glenn said.

Miss Glenn is a first grade teacher. She teaches at the Littledave School. Her class is learning about jobs.

"Hugh, what work does your mother do?"

"She is a doctor," Hugh said. "She helps people feel better."

"My father builds things," Cody said. "He is an architect."

"My mother is an artist. She paints beautiful pictures," Justin said.

One by one each of the children told Miss Glenn about their parents' jobs. They were very proud of their parents. They learned that every kind of work is important.

Only Gina had not said anything. She was very quiet.

"Gina, what do your parents do?" Miss Glenn asked.

"My mother takes care of my baby brother," Gina said. "She is very busy at home."

"How about your father?" the teacher said.

Gina thought and thought. It was hard to explain.

"I guess he is a doctor, an artist, and an architect," she said.
