Spots and More Spots

When Lyn woke up, she did not feel good. She was hot. Her body hurt. Her eyes felt scratchy.

"Mom!" she called. "Mom!"

Her mother came into the room. "What's wrong, Lyn?" she asked.

"I don't feel good. My head hurts. My eyes feel scratchy."

Lyn's mother felt her head. "You might have some fever," she said. "Lie still and I will take your temperature." She went out the door.

Soon Lyn's mother was back. She had a thermometer. She put it in Lyn's mouth. She waited a while. Then she took the thermometer out. She looked at it. "Oh, my!" she said. "Your temperature is 101 degrees Fahrenheit," she said. "You need to stay home today."

Lyn's mother brought her some orange juice and oatmeal for breakfast. Lyn ate a little bit of the oatmeal. She drank some of the juice. Then she went back to sleep.

While she was asleep, Lyn had a dream. In her dream, Lyn was a clown. She was in the circus. She had a big red nose. She wore big pants and floppy shoes. She had little red spots all over her face. She looked very funny!

Later Lyn's mother came to check on her. She sat down on Lyn's bed. Lyn opened her eyes and looked at her mother.
