The Grey Pression

Nan stared up at the farm house. Her older sister gave her a push.

"Nan, move. You are blocking the way!" said Nora.

The little girl picked up her bag. It held her most loved toys. Her clothes were in boxes. They were stacked in the dark, front hall.

"Which room is ours, Mom?" called Nora.

"It does not really matter," said Mom. "I think they are both the same."

"Bill and I have the front one," yelled Eddie. "You girls can have the one that faces the barn."

"That is pretty selfish, Ed," said Nora.

"You are just mad because you did not get it first," Ed shot back.

"Ed, Nora," said Dad. They knew that tone. It told them to stop arguing. Now.

Nora stared at Ed. Then she stuck out her tongue.

"Come on, Nan," she said. "I want to see our room."
