The King

Elvis Week

Reading Comprehension for August 8

"I am sick of all this talk. Elvis, Elvis, Elvis. That is all you talk about," Sam said.

"I have lived in this house for a long time," Sara said. "I know he was a king!"

Sam and Sara kept arguing. Sam and Sara are spiders. They live in the attic of Graceland. Graceland was Elvis Presley's home.

"Whatever," Sam said. "I have seen him in films. He did not wear a crown. He was not a king."

"He did not have to wear a crown," Sara said. "He was not the king of a country. He was the king of rock and roll."

"What on earth is rock and roll?" Sam asked.

"Don't be silly," Sara said. She added another line to her web. "Rock and roll is a kind of music. It is a little bit of gospel. It has some country in it. It has some blues in it, too."

"Well, that sounds like a mixed-up mess," Sam said.

Sara gave Sam an angry look.
