This learning center can be played as an individual learning center game, or two or three students can play together. The game includes a mat that features a large beehive, a spinner labeled with directions, and 50 bee cards, along with all the items teachers need to set up the learning center, like directions, the bin label, and a cover image.

Students playing the game gather 10 bees of the same color. Then, they take turns spinning the spinner and placing the bees on the hive according to the directions. Places on the spinner they can land on include:

* Hive positions, like "top"

* Outside positions, like "next to"

* Remove one bee

* Move one bee to a different position

When playing alone, students play until they have placed all 10 bees on the hive. When playing with others, the winner is the student who places all 10 of their bees first. There is also a bonus cut-and-paste activity where students color the hive and bees, cut them out, and place them on the hive according to the directions on the page.

This learning center provides students with practice deciphering positions, following directions, and basic scissor skills, in addition to practice counting to 10.
