This learning center supports skip counting skills that help students build the knowledge they need to tackle upcoming multiplication skills. Directions are simple, but the activity includes an interactive element with clothespins that make it fun for students to complete.

First, students choose a counting card from the pile. Each counting card includes five or six characters or images, like birds, circus performers, or t-shirts that are labeled with multiples of 5s, 10s, or 100s. One number in the series is missing. Students look at the four numbers below and identify the missing number in the series by covering it with a clipped clothespin.

For example, a series of ducks includes the directions "Skip counting by 100s." Six ducks feature the numbers 500, 600, ___, 800, 900, 1000. Below are ducks with the numbers 650, 700, 601, 800. Students clip the clothespin to the duck with the number 700.

There is a total of 10 counting cards that students can complete. Materials also include the bin label, folder cover, and an example page that shows students how to complete the learning center independently.
