Students get to practice visualizing and finding equivalent fractions with this learning center! With fraction and visual models, students can begin to see how different fractions are written differently but represent the same amount. This is an important concept to understand before they begin adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions.
Students start by taking a fraction card. Then, they find the picture card with the same value. The fraction cards feature different denominators, but the picture cards all show fractions with 10 pieces. For example, students might pull a card that shows 1/2. They would find the picture card that shows 5 out of 10 pieces that are shaded.
Once they have matched the fraction card to the picture card with the correct visual model, they find the matching visual model on the worksheet. They write the fraction, color in the model, and write down the card numbers. Then, they can pull another fraction card.
Directions on the worksheet are included, in addition to a direction sheet that you can attach to the learning center folder. A cover page is also included.
