This learning center supports the knowledge of measurements as students use conversions to learn the relative sizes of cups, pints, ounces, and more. Worksheets also include opportunities for students to do repeated addition or multiplication to find the answer, supporting general mathematical practice and critical thinking skills.
Students start by cutting out the picture cards and word cards. Then they complete two worksheets that ask them to find the measurement equivalents. One page requires them to place the picture cards and one requires them to place the word cards. For example, they would place the one pint picture card on the worksheet that asks, "2 cups make..."
Each worksheet contains clear instructions, including which cards to use, so they can complete the activity independently. There is also a liquid measuring chart you can include in the center that students can reference to place the cards correctly.
An additional worksheet is included that asks students to use their math skills to find the equivalent liquid amounts. They can reference the chart but will have to do some math. For example, one says, "5 cups is the same as" and students have to write the answer in ounces.
