"Match the Silly Sweater to Each Animal: 3-Digit Multiplication With Area Models" is a fun learning center that supports 3-digit multiplication practice. It includes area models for each multiplication problem by displaying each place value number, which supports the development of number sense and encourages mental math strategies.

Students start by choosing a card that features an animal and a 3-digit multiplication problem. It is displayed as a standard multiplication problem as well as an area model, so students can answer both the traditional multiplication problem and write it as an addition problem. Once they have found the answer, they place the corresponding sweater on the animal to make it look silly. When students finish the first problem, they move on to another card.

If you choose to laminate the pages, students can use a dry-erase marker to write the answers directly on the cards. A "show your work" page is also included, where students can write the multiplication problem and the place value addition problem.

This learning center includes full-color and black-and-white cards, as well as full-color and black-and-white sweaters, in addition to both teacher and student instructions.
