Students build single-digit multiplication arrays in this learning center, helping them make the connection between multiplication and addition, as well as supporting visualization skills. Students have a lot of choices with this learning center, which helps hold their concentration so they're more likely to finish without getting distracted.
First, they fill out the practice worksheet. They draw a line from the multiplication problem to its matching array. Then, they get to choose a card from the pile that features a multiplication problem. They choose a tree and use mini erasers to create a matching array. Finally, they use a dry-erase marker to fill in the answer on the card. They see how many they can do in the time provided and wipe off the cards when they're done.
The center includes a clear direction card with visuals that help students see exactly what they need to do in order to complete the center independently. The teacher instruction card includes directions to set up the learning center along with all the materials you need. All you have to do is add the dry-erase marker and mini erasers.
