"One More and One Less: Adding and Subtracting With Chocolate Chip Cookies" is a learning center that helps students visualize adding one more and taking away so there's one less by using chocolate chip cookies.

Students start by choosing a "one more" or "one less" page. They draw from the pile of 20 cards that show the number. Cards also display the number of chocolate chips in the cookie on ten frames. Students place the correct number of either dried black beans or pom-pom balls on the cookie to represent chocolate chips. Then, they either place another bean in the "one more" box or move one of the beans from the cookie into the "one less" box. Finally, they write the equation at the bottom of the page.

The worksheet pages can be laminated so students can erase their work and complete all 20 number cards. The materials include everything you need to set up the learning center bin, including an example page that shows students how to fill out the "one more" and "one less" pages to encourage independent learning.
