The learning center titled "Pattern Block Puzzles: Building 2D Shapes" includes 14 pattern block picture cards. Each card includes an outline of a 2D shape with the number and types of shape cutouts that are needed to recreate the picture. The shape cutouts include diamonds, trapezoids, triangles, squares, and hexagons, enabling you to incorporate actual pattern blocks into the learning center instead of cutouts, if they are available. Students pull the number and type of shapes they need from the pile and arrange them so they fit within the pattern block picture card.

This learning center supports multiple skills that include counting objects, shape recognition, and composing two-dimensional shapes. These skills can help young students build a foundation for addition and geometry.
