They help you imagine what something looks like, feels like, sounds like, smells like, or tastes like. For example, you could say, 'I saw a cat.' That is simple and clear. But the sentence does not describe the cat at all. If you say, 'I saw a skinny orange cat,' the words skinny and orange paint a much better picture of the cat. Now it is your turn.
