It's phonics time! Today's lesson is all about the sounds of the letters 'c' and 'g.' Sometimes, these letters are pronounced softly, and other times, they are pronounced hard. Check out the common rules, then complete the activity.
There are two ways to sound out the letters 'c' and 'g': soft or hard. The trick is to look at the letter that follows. If 'c' or 'g' is followed by 'e,' 'i,' or 'y,' you pronounce it softly. If it's followed by any other letter, you pronounce it hard. But remember this: When there are rules, there are often exceptions. This activity has two hidden in plain sight! Look at the words, and write 's' for the soft sound or 'h' for the hard sound. Keep an eye out for the exceptions!
