Like Everyone Else
By Kathleen W. Redman
1 Aisha was an unusual girl. She wore red glasses and liked to dress in funny clothes. She had long hair that she wore in three braids instead of two. She carried a rainbow-colored backpack. She loved listening to strange music. Her shoes had bright pink laces. Most of the time, Aisha even wore different colored shoes.
2 From her name all the way down to her feet, Aisha was very different!
3 Aisha had lots of friends. She had some friends who liked her music but hated her hair. She had some friends who liked her glasses but hated her backpack. She had some friends who loved her clothes but had trouble saying her name.
4 But no one liked her mismatched shoes.
5 Some days, Aisha wore a pink shoe and black shoe. Other days, she wore a red shoe and a blue shoe. One day, she even wore one striped shoe and one polka-dotted shoe. She loved picking out shoes in the morning.
