Anklosaurids

Ankylosaurids were armored dinosaurs. They had bony plates called scutes (SKOOTS) that protected their bodies. There were two families in this group: ankylosaurids and nodosaurids (NOH-doh-sore-ids). Both families were herbivores, or plant eaters. Both were quadrupeds. Ankylosaurs had bony clubs at the end of their tails and wide heads. Nodosaurs had tails without clubs, narrow heads, and sideways-pointing spikes. Edmontonia (ED-mon-TOH-nee-uh) was the largest of the nodosaurs. It grew to a length of .....
