My Favorite Teacher

National Teacher Day is a day for honoring teachers. It is a day for remembering the hard work they do for their students.


Teachers do a lot. They go to school for many years. They study to learn how to teach. They have to learn about many subjects. They have to pass many tests. They have to practice before they become a teacher.


Teachers are at school before you arrive. They are there after you leave. They prepare lessons just for you. They try to make your day interesting. They answer questions and explain difficult subjects. Most of all, they want you to do well in school.


On National Teacher Day, students honor their teachers in different ways. Some students thank their teachers for helping them learn. Some students send cards to their teachers. Other students write notes or letters to their teachers. This is a note Annie wrote to her favorite teacher:
