The Life of Joe Biden

Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., was born on November 20, 1942. His parents were Joe and Jean Biden. He was the oldest of their four children. They were an Irish Catholic family. He was born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania. At age ten, he and his family moved to Delaware. One early challenge Biden had to overcome was stuttering. He overcame this challenge and went on to attend St. Helena's School and Archmere Academy.


Biden's education included earning his bachelor's degree in 1965 from the University of Delaware. He followed up with a law degree from Syracuse University College of Law in 1968. He began practicing trial law in Wilmington in 1969. He was first a public defender. Then he became a partner in his own law firm.


In the meantime, Biden had married Neilia Hunter in 1966. They had three children together - Joseph III (called Beau), Hunter, and Naomi.
