Worksheet pages feature ordering activities for numbers 0-10 and 0-20. Each page features between 9 and 12 individual boxes with three items. They can include whales, pencils, trains, and butterflies. Each set is missing one number. The missing number can be first, second, or third. Students have to figure out what the missing number is and write it in the blank spot. For example, they would fill in 12 when shown 13 and 14 or 2 when shown 1 and 3.

Each worksheet page features a number line at the top of the page that students can reference when working. Students who finish early can color the pictures.

Being able to count numbers in order is an important skill, but it is equally important for students to be able to identify which numbers are missing in a number line. This creates a deeper understanding of number sense and builds the foundation for sequencing and number patterns.

The easiest way for students to practice is to fill in the missing numbers in a number line. They could fill in one missing digit or multiple missing digits up to 10 or 20. You could also have them fill in missing digits on number lines that don't start with 1, like filling in 19 in a line that includes the numbers 18 and 20.

You can stretch student thinking by having them fill in the missing numbers vertically or in a grid. Students can also fill in the missing numbers in a connect-the-dots picture to help them think about number order outside of a traditional number line.
