Give your students a challenge with these skip counting worksheets! Some pages feature skip counting by small numbers, like two and three, but you'll also find pages with harder numbers, like seven and nine!
The top of the page tells students what number they will be counting by. Then, they fill in the blanks with the correct numbers. For example, on a page where students count by nines, all the numbers from 9 to 216 are listed. Students have to fill in some of the blanks, like 54 between 45 and 63 as well as 99 between 90 and 108.
Each page also includes a connect-the-dots puzzle. Numbers on the dots correspond to the pattern that they're counting by. Students can reference the list of numbers they completed at the top of the page if they get stuck and need to know which number comes next in the pattern.
Once students grasp the concept of skip counting, you should increase the challenge by giving them more difficult numbers to count by. This supports critical thinking skills, encourages students to use and recognize patterns, and helps them practice multiplication facts.
For example, once students have mastered skip counting by 2, 3, and 5, challenge them to skip count by 7, 8, or 9. They can complete a connect-the-dots picture or work their way through a maze, choosing the next correct number to get to the end. You can ask students to write out the numbers or fill in the blanks in a series of numbers before completing the activity so they can reference the numbers in the pattern as they're working.
