Each page of the worksheet titled "Using Picture Clues to Write the Correct Word" features three groups of three images. Each image is accompanied by blank practice lines below. The words that match the images are listed above but are mixed up. Students have to figure out which word goes where and write it on the lines underneath the image.
The mixed-up words on kindergarten pages are shaded so students can trace them to get extra practice. They also feature star starting points, so students are reminded how to begin writing each letter of the word. The words on first grade pages are printed in solid fonts. Students copy them on the lines without the extra writing practice.
It's important for students to practice writing letters because it makes them better writers, but you can make it more fun by turning their practice into a puzzle.
For example, students can look at pictures and write the correct word for each one. You can include a word bank if students need a little extra help.
Students could be tasked with solving a word find and writing the words they found below. They could follow a maze and collect letters along the way that they write together to create a word, or you could have early learners trace the word and draw a picture to go with it.
