The Sense of Touch: Ouch!

1     Hot. Rough. Pain. Wet. Sharp. These are just a few of the sensations that you can feel using your sense of touch. Unlike your other senses, your sense of touch is not confined to one part of your body. You can sense the heat of the sun on the top of your head. You can sense water covering your feet. You can sense a needle pricking your arm. You can even sense pain inside your body when something is wrong.
 
2     Your sense of touch helps you to feel things in your environment. This can help you to understand unfamiliar objects. It can keep you safe. It can let you know when something is wrong. Your sense of touch also helps you to move and interact with your environment. Your sense of touch allows you to pick up an egg with just enough pressure so that you won't drop it, but also makes sure that you don't use so much pressure that you break it in your hand.
