¹ Have you ever seen toadstools growing on a dead tree? Have you ever seen mold growing on bread? If you have, you have seen fungi. Mold and toadstools are fungi. So is the yeast your mom might use to make bread. The mushrooms on your pizza are fungi, too.

² Some fungi are so small that you can't see them without a microscope. Even though they're small, they have a big job. Fungi, along with bacteria, do most of the work of breaking down dead plants and animals. Fungi helps dead organisms decay. Fungi are decomposers. When a plant or animal dies, it is broken down by bacteria and fungi. Part of the dead .....
