The Boy King
By Jody Williams 1 What do nine-year-olds like to do? They like to play sports. They like to run. They like to play with their friends. They like to go to school. Do they like to be kings? A boy became king of Egypt when he was nine years old. 2 King Tut became a king when he was nine years old. He was the king of Egypt. Egypt is a country in Africa. King Tut was king thousands of years ago. Experts do not know a lot about him. They learned about him when someone found his tomb. A tomb is a place where some people's bodies are put after they die. 3 In Egypt, when kings died they were put in tombs. King Tut died when he was about 18 years old. There are different stories about how he died. No one is sure what happened because it was so long ago. King Tut is buried in the Valley of the Kings. There are about thirty other kings buried there.
