Jeff Gordon

By Colleen Messina
1     Jeff Gordon was named one of NASCAR's 50 Greatest Drivers in 2007. His need for speed started when he was young. He began racing at the age of five and has been winning ever since. He is also one of those compassionate celebrities who uses his success to help others.

2     Jeff Gordon was born on August 4, 1971. His family says that it was his idea to start racing. They fully supported him. He entered a quarter midget car race when he was only five years old! Jeff Gordon's first race cars were small, but he had a large amount of determination.

3     He was born in California, but his stepfather agreed to move the family to Pittsboro, Indiana, so that his stepson could have more racing opportunities.
