Tick, Tock! Eddie Gets a Clock
By Colleen Messina
1 Eddie liked to play in his room. He had building blocks. He had toy knights and a large plastic dragon. Eddie also had a fish tank. His pet goldfish was called Bubbles. Eddie also had a blue beanbag chair to sit on. He sat there and read books from the library. Eddie liked his room a lot!
2 "Eddie, please come to dinner in ten minutes," called Dad.
3 Dad was making his special noodle casserole. Mom was at her job tonight. Sometimes she worked late. Then Dad cooked dinner. Dad wore a silly apron when he cooked dinner. The apron had a picture of a fat chef on it. Dad had fun in the kitchen, and he sang loud songs as he cooked.
4 "Okay, Dad, I will," said Eddie.
5 Eddie was building a castle with his blocks. He had made a tall tower on each corner of the castle. He used red blocks for the towers. He made a big door on one side. He used yellow blocks for the door. Eddie then made a large fence out of brown blocks all around the castle. It was a strong castle! Eddie wanted to put his knights in the castle. They would be safe in there from the toy dragon.
