I HaveANT Got Brown Shoes!
By Beth Beutler
The ant looked at his feet. He did not have any shoes. "This will not be good," he thought. "What will I wear to the party?"
The ant would be going to a party soon. It was on December 4. December 4 is "Wear Brown Shoes Day." They would eat brown food, like brownies and chocolate pudding. Everyone was to wear brown shoes. If they did not, they could not come to the party.
"What am I going to do?" the ant thought. He really wanted to go to the party.
He came out of his ant hole. He walked around the tree he liked the most. He kept thinking.
"I don't want to buy shoes just for a party. But I don't want to miss the party." He sighed. Maybe he should just skip the party.
A centipede (SENT-uh-peed) walked near him. "Hi, Ant. What are you doing?"
"Oh, I'm just thinking about the Brown Shoe party."
"Oh yes, that will be fun."
