Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star

1     Have you ever wished upon a star? On a clear night you can peek up into the night sky and see many twinkling lights. Almost all of these tiny white lights are stars. Stars are big balls of burning gas. They are very far away from our planet. Since they are so far away, it takes a long time for their light to reach the Earth. As the starlight makes its way toward Earth, it must pass through our atmosphere. This layer of air refracts, or bends, light. This motion makes the stars look like they are twinkling. A few of those tiny white lights in the night sky are planets. You might see Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn in the night sky, too. The planets don't make .....
