Making Music, Bringing Joy
By Beth Beutler

"I'm going to take accordion lessons," Taylor said to Daniel.

"Really? That's interesting," Daniel replied. "What made you decide to do that?"

"My mom and I were going through my uncle's attic this weekend. He has to go into a nursing home. We found his old accordion. I never even knew he played."

"Did he remember playing?" Daniel asked, knowing that Taylor's uncle's mind had been failing lately.

"When I brought it downstairs, his eyes lit up like candles," Taylor said. "He immediately remembered playing it when he was younger. We talked a lot about it."

"That's cool!" Daniel said. "Does the accordion still work well?"

"It needs some refurbishing, but yes, it will be playable."

"Who gives lessons around here?" Daniel asked.

"The local music and arts school has a teacher who teaches accordion to a few students. I start in two weeks, just after the accordion is returned to me."
