Cindy Neuschwander
By Brandi Waters

1     Books about math! Why would anyone want to read books about math? It turns out that a lot of kids would rather read a book about math than go to math class. Cindy Neuschwander is the author of several picture books that teach math. She uses interesting stories to make math fun.

2     Cindy Neuschwander is a third grade teacher. She lives in California now, but she has lived in many places. When she was a young girl, her dad was in the Navy. His job took their family to many different places. Cindy was born in California. She also lived in Rhode Island and Hawaii.

3     She has traveled to and lived in many places as an adult, too. She has lived in Germany, Austria, and England. In fact, she first started thinking about using reading to teach math while she was a teacher in Germany. Another teacher had suggested that she try it. She did. She was surprised by how much her students learned.
