A Bicycle for Jake

Jake was nine years old. He really wanted a bicycle for his birthday. His father had said he could have one when he was ten.


Jake had waited almost a year. In December, it was Christmas. There were lots of gifts for Jake, but no bicycle. Christmas was fun, but Jake was in a hurry for a bicycle.


In January, Jake and his father made snowmen. They made snow forts. They had a snowball battle. It was fun, but Jake was in a hurry for a bicycle.


In February, Jake and his father bought some flowers for Jake's mother. It was Valentine's Day. Jake thought it was silly. He was in a hurry for a bicycle.


It rained a lot in March. On March 17, Jake wore green to school. It was St. Patrick's Day, and he didn't want to get pinched. He was in a hurry for a bicycle.


In April, the weather got warmer and the flowers started to bloom. Jake and his little sister colored eggs. Jake hid them for his little sister to find. Easter was nice, but Jake was in a hurry for a bicycle.


At the end of May, Jake got out of school. Hurray! No more classes until August. Jake was so happy. There was one thing wrong, though. Jake still didn't have his bicycle.


In June, Jake and his family went to the beach for a week. They went swimming. They played on the beach. Jake and his sister looked for shells. Jake liked the vacation, but he was in a hurry for a bicycle.
