What is a grandparent? It is a parent's parent. Grandparents may be your mother's father and mother or your father's mother and father.


Grandparents are special people. They are much older than you. They have seen many things. They have been many places. They have known many people. They have learned many things. If you're lucky, your grandparents teach you some things they have learned.


Many years ago, there was a woman named Marian McQuade. She loved older people. She loved grandparents. She wanted children to love older people, too. She asked young people in her town to "adopt" a grandparent. She said that children should listen to grandparents.
