A Hop, a Twist, and a Jump

Weird Contest Week

Reading Comprehension for August 15

It was time for the sack race. It was not just any sack race. It was part of "Weird Contest Week" in our neighborhood. So, there would be something different about it.

I went to the starting line. There were ten of us competing in this sack race. We would have to hop from a line by the parking lot to the fence around the community swimming pool. This seemed easy enough.

However, because it was weird contest week, we had to do something different. We would not be hopping in a burlap sack. We would be hopping in two paper grocery sacks! We had to put one foot in each! How was I going to hop without falling out of the bags?
