A New Kind of Farm

If you had a farm, what would you grow? Would you grow potatoes? Would you grow grains like corn and wheat?

Would you grow fruit? Fruit farmers grow apples, peaches, and pears. These fruits grow hanging from branches, just waiting to be eaten or canned.

Some farms raise animals, too. Some keep one kind of animal like chickens, turkeys, cattle, or hogs.

Some farms raise horses. There are many kinds of horses. They come in many sizes and colors.

Some cows are raised for milk. Some cattle are raised for their meat. It is the same for goats.

Some farms even raise llamas, ostriches, and deer! Did you know there are also worm farms?

Worm farmers don't round up their worms the way ranchers round up cattle. Worms aren't sheared like sheep. We don't eat worms. Why are there worm farms?

Some worms are sold to bait shops. Fishermen can buy worms to bait their fish hooks. Maybe you know someone who gets worms that way.
