"I just don't get this, Mr. Moore," said Cole.

"You don't get what?" asked Mr. Moore, Cole's teacher.

"I don't get how to add these big numbers!" said Cole. "When I read, I start on the left side of the page and read to the right side. When I write, I start on the left side and go to the right side. But now when I add these big numbers, I can't start on the left side! I have to start on the right side. If you ask me, the right side is the WRONG side! And I don't get why I have to write a little number up on top sometimes- but not all the time!"
