Alpine Skiing

Alpine skiing has been an Olympic sport since 1936. Not all skiers are alpine skiers. Not all alpine skiers ski in the Olympics. Olympic alpine skiers start out as recreational skiers. These are skiers that ski just for the fun of skiing. Then they learn to love the sport. They get serious about wanting to be great skiers. They decide what type of skiing they want to do. Some skiers choose freestyle skiing. Some choose cross-country skiing. Others choose alpine skiing.


Alpine skiing is for those who want to learn how to ski fast down mountains. Alpine skiers who train for the Olympics cannot be afraid of heights. They cannot be afraid of fast speeds. They can ski down mountains at sixty miles per hour. They train to be the fastest skiers to reach the bottom of the slopes they ski.
