Try to name all the computers you see each day. You might have a desktop, tablet, or laptop computer at home and at school. There are computers in cell phones. There is a computer in your MP3 player. There's a computer in your satellite television box. There are even computers in most new cars! It's hard to imagine a world without computers.


Not long ago, computers were very expensive. Their cost was tens of thousands of dollars. Only big companies could afford them. Computers were built for businesses. Almost no one could afford to have a computer at home. That started to change when a couple of guys built a computer in their garage. The guys were Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. They called their computer the Apple.
