Andrew Jackson

Andrew Jackson was the seventh president of the United States. He was born in South Carolina in 1767. When his mother was pregnant with him, his father died. She had to raise him and two brothers by herself.


The Revolutionary War took place when he was young. Jackson's oldest brother died in the war from heatstroke. When Jackson was thirteen, he joined the fight along with his other brother. They were captured and caught smallpox. Jackson's brother died not long after they were released.


Jackson's mother would also die during the war. She was trying to get some of her nephews off a prison ship. She became sick and died.


Jackson would live for a couple years with friends and neighbors. At seventeen, he decided to become a lawyer. In Tennessee, he became a great lawyer. During this time, he also married Rachel Robards.
