Baby Queen

Kate is three years old. She had friends at her house to play. The girls wanted to play dress-up. Two of the girls wanted to be princesses. Kate wanted to be a queen. Tommy came into the room. He is Kate's brother. He told Kate that she was too little to be a queen. Kate did not agree. Kate told him that it did not matter how old she is.

Kate was right. In the past, it did not matter how old a person was. Mary, Queen of Scots, became queen at an early age. Mary was born on December 8, 1542. Six days later, her father died. Mary became queen of Scotland.

She was best known as being the queen of Scotland. But she was in line to be the queen of England, Ireland, and France, too. All are countries in Europe.
