In the 1700s, it was called "Lotto." That was in Europe. In the early 1900s, it was called "Beano." That was in the United States. Today, we call it Bingo. It is one of the most popular games of all time.


Bingo is played with cards. Each card has 25 squares. They are in rows. Across the top are the letters B-I-N-G-O. The center space is a "free" space. There is a number in each square. The lowest number is 1. The highest number is 75.


Bingo number pieces come in different forms. They can be on chips. They can be on paper pieces. They can be on plastic balls. Each number has a letter with it. It either has a B, I, N, G, or O. The numbers are mixed up. A caller chooses a number. He shouts the letter and number.
