Books Worth a Million

Read a New Book Month

Reading Comprehension for December 11

"Did you know that a millionaire usually reads one new book a month?" I asked my friend Jake as we were sitting in my room after school. (Jake often stayed at my house after school until his mother got home from work.)

"I didn't know that."

"Yes. My parents are taking a financial class and learned some things about millionaires. Many of them read one non-fiction book a month."

"I wonder why?" Jake asked.

"I think it is because it helps them continue to improve their lives. It keeps their brains sharp." I answered.

"I don't even read one new book a year!" Jake exclaimed.

I laughed. I couldn't say much, because I don't read very often either. I read what I have to for school assignments, but I don't like to read on my own.

Jake and I turned to our video game and began to play. However, my mind wandered a little bit, and I was not playing my best.
