Building Art

Aaron and Tracy were playing with blocks. Adam was building a bridge. Tracy was building a house. Tracy wanted her toy people to fit inside. Aaron wanted his toy cars to fit on his bridge. They were using their imaginations. They were architects.


An architect is a builder. He is a designer. He is an artist. An architect is a creator. Frank Lloyd Wright is one of the most famous architects. He was born on June 8, 1867. He was born in Wisconsin. Frank's mother always wanted him to be an architect. Frank's father was a minister. He moved the family around a lot. In 1877, the family moved back to Wisconsin. Frank spent his summers on his grandparents' farm.


When Frank was 18 years old, he worked for a builder. He took drawing classes. Frank wanted to go to Chicago. In 1887, he moved there. He walked into an architect's office. He asked for a job. Frank was given a job. He made $8.00 a week. He worked there for one year.
