Campout Cooking

Sam was going on a camping trip with his dad. Camping was something that Sam and his dad liked to do together. They went camping about once a month all through the summer. Sam loved camping!

On this trip, Sam wanted to help with the cooking. His dad usually took care of all their food. He usually fried the fish they caught. He baked potatoes in the coals of their campfire. Sometimes, though, the fish just weren't biting. Then they'd eat canned stew or chili that they brought with them. Sometimes they'd cook hot dogs.

This time, Sam wanted to help. He thought about what he might cook. He thought about what would go along with either fish or stew. Could he make some kind of bread over the campfire?

Sam went to the computer. He looked on the Internet for "camp bread." He found a recipe for camp biscuits. The recipe said you could boil them like dumplings in a pot of stew. It said you could also bake the dough on a stick over the campfire.
