If you watch much TV, you might think Canadians and Americans are the same. They are alike in some ways, but they are different in others. Canada and America have differences, too.


Take Canadian money. It has been very colorful for decades. American money is being made using more colors.


Canadians also use one and two dollar coins. The one dollar coin is called a loonie. It has a picture of a loon (bird) on one side. The two dollar coin is called a toonie. It has a polar bear on one side.


Most Americans don't like dollar coins. They are too heavy in their pockets. Canadians like them because they save the government money in the long run. Coins don't have to be replaced as often as bills.
